August 06, 2010
RSD 200,000 from the Provincial budget for co-financing the project of restoring old and making new frames for the paintings from the Gallery collection.
Provincial Secretariat for Culture announced the Competition for co–financing projects in the field of cultural heritage protection in Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in 2010.
After the end of the Competition, according to the Decision of this secretariat, “Milan Konjović” Gallery in Sombor was given the amount of RSD 200,000 to co-finance the project of restoring old and making new frames for the paintings from the Gallery collection.
With the implementation of this Project, Milan Konjović’s paintings will be exhibited with a higher degree of protection and originality. The proper framing of the whole Milan Konjović’s opus will enable the Gallery to set up more thematic exhibitions.
The aim of the Project is to stop the deterioration of the original works of Milan Konjović with the handmade frames, and to equip the paintings, which to this day remained unfurnished. There are about thirty Milan Konjović’s works from the period 1912-1940, which are not adequately equipped with the original frames, or which require restoration.
After addressing the Regional Institute for Protection of Cultural Monuments in Novi Sad with the request for frame replicas, the Institute has submitted the appropriate specification. Based on this specification, the competition committee has decided to grant RSD 200,000 to our Gallery for this purpose.
