On 17 October 2011 a meeting of the representatives of Sombor and Split (Croatia) was held, at the invitation of the Art Gallery “Kula” (The Tower) from Split.

Nemanja Delić, the Mayor, and Peter Mraković, the director of the “Milan Konjović” Gallery, represented Sombor. Split was, among others, represented by Ante Sanader, the Prefect of Split-Dalmatia County, and Anđelka Visković, the Deputy Mayor of Split.

This meeting was preceded by the visit of the Art Gallery “Kula” representative, Mr Mrduljaš, to the promotion of the monograph “Konjović – At Close Range” by Irma Lang in last October.

The idea is to achieve cooperation and arrange exhibition of the famous painters, on a reciprocal basis, both in Split and Sombor.

During the 30's and 40's of the twentieth century, maestro Konjović was often in Croatia and extensively painted in Mlini, Cavtat, Dubrovnik, on the island of Brač, where many masterpieces of his "red phase" came into being.

A part of the Gallery's collection of paintings will be exhibited in one of the galleries in Split in March 2012, with the support and good will of both towns.
